Our Solution: Adapting Supply to Actual Production Demand

To begin with, we carried out a comprehensive analysis of SIMON's logistics and operational processes: from reference rotation to synchronization with the ERP.

The solution we arrived at was to implement SmartBin Cloud, an intelligent system that automates replenishment, monitors inventory in real time, and adapts supply to actual production demand. To reduce stock levels, we configured the system with an average inventory turnover rate per SKU of 5 times per year, which has yielded two immediate benefits:

It ensures sufficient inventory to meet production needs (adjusted to the lead time for each SKU).
It significantly reduces the storage space required.

A Specific Example of Cost Savings and Efficiency

For one item with a monthly consumption of 2 million units the system was initially configured to maintain a maximum inventory of 4 million (equivalent to 2 months’ supply). However, at the customer’s request, the inventory level was adjusted to one month’s supply (i.e. 2 million units) thanks to the reliability of the automated system, which is capable of adapting to demand in real time.

Before implementing this solution, SIMON had 8 million units of this SKU in stock. Today, with the new logistics model, it has reduced inventory by 75% and freed up €36,000 in fixed capital—for that item alone.
