The “Stop and Stay” and “Stop and Stay+” both enable precise, multi-position holding of a counter-balanced weight over the full stroke of the gas strut. Unlike a standard strut, when correctly set it will not move the application, but simply support it in the existing position. This gives the user full control over positioning at all times.

Features:

  • Multi-Position holding of counter-balanced weights
  • Full position control
  • Choice between adjustable or preset friction control
  • Available in stainless steel and with Vari-LiftTM

Blocklift Locking Gas Spring

A Camloc Motion Control Blocklift gas strut for stepless adjustment at any stroke position on white background

Lockable gas springs allow for stepless adjustment at any stroke position, whether elastic (“springy”) or rigid. The Blocklift range includes four different products for a variety of applications: The BL1 which remains rigid under extension; the BL2 which remains rigid under compression; the BL3 with elasticity and damping; and the BL4, which remains rigid in both extension and compression.

Features:

  • Can be locked in any position along the stroke length
  • One-handed operation
  • Safe to use with simple position control
  • Self-contained and maintenance-free
  • Available in steel or 316L stainless steel

Frequently Asked Questions About Gas Springs

What is a gas spring?

Simply put, a gas spring is a sealed energy source containing pressurized inert gas (nitrogen) and a small amount of oil. It is a self-contained unit that requires no power source and no maintenance. Made from either steel or stainless steel, it features a robust, rigid design with a highly stable and durable outer casing.

What is the difference between gas springs and gas struts?

Gas springs and gas struts are fundamentally the same type of device, using pressurized nitrogen gas to provide force, counterbalance loads, and control motion. The terms are frequently used interchangeably. “Gas strut” is commonly used in automotive and industrial contexts and may imply a structural or motion-control role, while “gas spring” is a more general term used across a wide range of applications, including furniture and machinery.

Why choose Camloc gas springs?

Camloc gas springs are based on proven technology. They are manufactured to the highest international standards, including BS EN ISO 9001. Thousands of test cycles ensure that they meet customer requirements rigorously. This makes Camloc products one of the most popular choices in various industries such as railway, aerospace, or the military.
