The Importance of Supporting the Engineers of the Future
Bossard Italy has always collaborated with universities with the aim of contributing to the development of the area in which it is present. This collaboration is an opportunity to sow in the engineers of the future the awareness of how important it is to know the principles of engineering, fasteners and assembly technologies.
Engineers are the key to a safe and reliable product, having a thorough understanding of fastening technology to start designing efficient and safe products right away. That's why Bossard Italy is sponsoring, for the second year in a row, the University of Pisa's E-Racing Team by supplying C-parts for the assembly of an electric race car.
What Is the E-Racing Team?
A team of students was engaged in a business simulation setting at the University of Pisa, with the aim of gaining real-world skills and experience in their field, working on a single project and developing teamwork skills.
In this context, the E-Team Squadra Corse designed and built an electric car in just eight months, definitely stepping out of their comfort zone. The big challenge was the transition from the combustion category to electric. The resulting EV-A car competed in three competitions of the European Formula Student circuit, against 65 teams from international backgrounds ready to race and compete in static and dynamic tests.
A Successful Outcome
And the result? The EV-A's performance during the Formula Student leaves no room for doubt – the E-team succeeded in their endeavor. The daily effort and commitment of each member was not in vain! The results achieved in the static tests were encouraging as well: third place in the business plan test and fourth place in the cost report test.
The collaboration with Bossard involved the Sales, Marketing and Engineering departments. We supported the university team in the selection of components that ranged from standard fasteners to electrical engineering and plastic components to branded products and special parts. Bossard Italia supplied all the components for assembly: from the making of the shell to the fixing of the battery.
