TufLok® and Nytemp® Patch All-Round for Thread-Locking and Sealing

The all-round version of the TufLok® and Nytemp® coating patch provides both thread-locking and thread-sealing functions.

TufLok® and Nytemp® All-Round are reliable, economical systems for sealing screw connections. The threaded parts receive a coating of highly elastic and abrasion-resistant polyamide on part of the thread. This fills the axial play between the screw and the nut thread, creating a tight and vibration-resistant connection.

How the All-Round Sealing Coating Works

TufLok® All-Round

The Tuflok® patch is a self-locking nylon element that bonds permanently to the thread of a fastener. When the patch is engaged, it creates a wedge between the fastener and the mating part, compressing the nylon and creating metal-to-metal contact opposite the patch. This results in positive vibration resistance and protects against loosening.  As an all-round coating, TufLok® creates an effective seal in the thread.

Features:

  • Blue all-round patch
  • Temperature range: -56 °C to +120 °C

Nytemp® All-Round

The Nytemp® patch operates according to the same mechanism as the Tuflok® patch, but is suitable for higher temperatures. It is comprised of a high-temperature polymer permanently bonded onto the fastener thread. Due to the higher coating temperature, application is only possible on bright or phosphated threaded parts and stainless steel.

Features:

  • Orange all-round patch
  • Temperature range: -56 °C to +200 °C

General Information on All-Round Coating Patches

Typical coating dimensions:

  • Patch length: 4 to 6 threads
  • Uncoated start of the thread: 1 to 2 threads

The internal thread must have a countersink (no sharp-edged thread inserts); otherwise, the patch could be peeled off when the screw is installed. Approximately two to three threads underneath the head should not be patched.
